International Language Center (ILCA)

Rules:

According to the university Statute all the foreign students who are intending to pursue their studies a Amirkabir University of Technology are obliged to pass Persian Language and receive the certificate before starting their academic studies.

After passing Persian Courses, students can start their English Courses and also Academic studies.

1-   Admission:

1.1 Students can receive the admission through International Affairs Office of Amirkabir University of Technology.

Note: Language Department of AmirKabir University of Technology only provides the classes for the students and other students affairs are not related to this department.

1.2 All the students are obliged to pass the 8-month course.

2-   Registration: 

According to the calendar on the site, students can check the beginning of the classes.

After starting the course students can join the classes but before that they need to pass some make-up sessions.

3-   Tuition Fee: 

Tuition fee for each 8- month course is € 550.
All the students are obliged to pass the 8-month course.

4- Rules to refund the tuition fee:

If the students want to cancel their registration they need to consider following rules:

  • More than a week before starting the classes: 100%
  • Less than a week before starting the classes: 90%
  • During the first two weeks after starting the classes:80%
  • After the second week of the classes: 0%

Participants from Iran, The U.S.A and Pakistan need to activate VPN in order to register.

5-   Educational Courses:

2.1 Every course starts at the beginning of Iranian Solar Calendar in AmirKabir University of Technology. Number of people in each class is about 7 students in each class.

Note: The students who intend to start studying in AmirKabir University of Technology, need to check the calendar first.

Students need to have a reference letter from International Affairs Office of Amirkabir University of Technology and follow all legal rules in order to be able to register and also notice the renewal of their visa.

6-   Class Attendance:

If the student does not attend the class, he/she needs to take a make-up session.

Students can be absent for 2 sessions (1day) in a month, and if they become absent more than that, they need to take a make-up session.

Tuition fee for each recorded session is €5.

Note: Make-up sessions are the ones which are held in order to help the students be able to keep up with the class.

7-   Exams:

·       The schedule for the exam will be announced at the beginning of each course.

·       The students need to notice the exam dates. If they miss the exam, they cannot retake it.

·       At the end of A2, students take a Comprehensive Exam. 

·       After B1, the students can take part in AFA Exam 2 times without paying any tuition. 

Note: if the students want to participate in AFA Exam more than 2 times, they need to pay.

8-   Comprehensive Exam: 

It is an exam which assesses all 4 skills (Speaking, Listening, Reading, and Writing) at Elementary Level.

9-   AFA Exam:

There are 2 AFA Exams in each educational pack.

If the students participate in this exam more than twice, they need to pay the tuition.

If the students can get the acceptable score in AFA exam, they can receive the certificate.

The students are allowed to take AFA exam after B1 and if they can receive the acceptable score, they can start their academic studies.

NOTE: For taking the AFA exam for the first time, students need to pass the Persian Course up to Intermediate level completely. If they need any make-up session, they need to pay the tuition.

10-   Certification:

At the end of B1: If the students can get the average score, they can get the permission to take part in Academic Courses.

At the end of B2: If the students can get the average score, they can get the certificate of completion of Persian Course.

11-   How to attend the classes:

·       Students must attend all sessions actively. In addition, they need to follow all the rules applied the class (dressing appropriately, their behavior, sitting etiquette….), otherwise the student will be removed from that session and he/she will be considered absent.

 ·       If the classes are cancelled by teachers or Language Department, there will be a make-up session for that.

·       To contact the teacher, students can send message through portal.

·       The students must do the assignments which are sent by the teachers or education department on time. In case of plagiarism, there will be no mark.

12-   How to attend the online classes:

.       To attend our online-courses, students need to install the “adobe connect” on their PCs or Laptops.

.       Try not to attend the class using your cellphones.

.       Remember, the students need to enter the class as “guest”. 
.       The Students must test their microphone and webcam before the class. No excuses for bad tech are acceptable.

.       If there is a problem with the students’ microphones or webcams, they will be considered absent.

.       If the classes are cancelled by teachers or Language Department, there will a make-up session for that.
